» R.I.P. Peter Lenz

A youth rider in one of the support races for today’s Red Bull Indianapolis GP was killed after he crashed on a warmup lap.

Peter Lenz, 13, Vancouver, Wash., was taken to Methodist Hospital with what Indianapolis Motor Speedway medical director Geoffrey Bellows termed “traumatic injuries” in a news release.

Lenz was competing in USGPRU, a U.S.-based motorcycle racing series.

After he fell from his motorcycle, Lenz was hit by another rider.

Peter Lenz died today after suffering fatal injuries during a crash of the warm-up lap at Indy today. He is survived by his parents and two sisters. He is dearly missed.

Peter passed away early this morning when he was apparently struck by another rider. He passed doing what he loved and had his go fast face on as he pulled onto the track. The world lost one of its brightest lights today. God Bless Peter and the other rider involved. #45 is on another road we can only hope to reach. Miss you kiddo. - Dad

Gates open at 7:00am

Registration is from 7:00am to 8:15am.

Motorcycles, trailers, gear, etc can be left inside the track on Saturday night.

Overnight camping is allowed in the grass next to the guard gate just outside of the tunnel.

General Trackday (preregistered) $205 per day. $395 for a 2 day Pass

Race School (preregistered) $355 per day.

After the first weekend done, here is what some people are saying:

AWESOME Time, the whole thing was first class......
Facilities, vendors, photographers, control riders, EVERYTHING....
Anyone reading this WHO didnt go and ride, sign your ass up for the next one, this was probably one of the best track weekends i have ever attended....
Again, i personally want to thank all the control riders for their time, and helping everyone, myself included...
Great great time..... BIG Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put this weekend together, it takes A LOT of work to put on a track weekend, and again, this weekend was perfect

That was a great trackday with the best catering of any track day. Healthy food, imagine that. Anyway had a great time and glad you did too.

Even though it was hot as hell, it was a dry track all day. I liked the way it was structured and the catering was awesome. All and all, it was a great track day and I enjoyed myself thoroughly.

Great Time! Good Food! Good People! Good Weather and Great Riding! Who could have asked for anything more?
